UTIs and Yeast infections during summers

UTIs are more common in women compared to men. Even in case of men, the one's with circumcised penis are less prone to UTIs.

For all those who are into flings and think quick action is cool trust me, if you choose to go unprotected it can be disastrous at times. FOMO on the fun moment might make you take the step but the consequences are totally not worth it.

The most common cause of UTI is sexually transmitted disease(STD). The most common one’s being Chlamydia and Gonorrhea and FYI, the relief factor being, that both of these are curable with right medications and more over are preventable with use of protection while intercourse.

Chlamydia and Gonorrhea both have pretty similar symptoms :

  1. Burning sensation when you pee

  2. Bleeding during urination

  3. Feeling of heaviness in lower abdomen

  4. Cloudy secretions with unpleasant odour

  5. Fever

  6. Urge to frequently take a piss

  7. Back pain

In case of men the occurrence of such infections is less because of a lengthier urinary track compared to women. Mostly the urine tends to clean away the bacteria along the course. A better solution for it is, proper treatment which consists of mostly antibiotics. These infections can be cured but this does not ensure that one would never contract the infection again.

If ignored and left untreated then the negligence can result in spread of the infection all the way up to the kidneys. Affected kidneys can also result in sepsis. There are studies which suggest home remedies but none have proven results. Thus it’s always better to see a doctor than to experiment without any assurance factor.

Summer Wreck :

One is prone to UTIs at any instance of unprotected intercourse, but especially when it’s that time of the year when everybody plans to spend extra hours working out for summer body goals then excess sweat and moisture build in your pubic regions (areas under and around your genitals, underarms, between fingers) also result in yeast infections. It is common both in men as well as women.

In case of women yeast and bacteria is already present in vagina but if the presence is beyond healthy limits then it can result in what is known as Vulvovaginal candidiasis where as in case of men it’s called Balantis. The symptoms are pretty similar to those of UTIs :

In case women :

  1. Itching

  2. Redness

  3. White discharge from the vagina

In case of men :

  1. Itching

  2. Redness

  3. Swelling

  4. Cloudy discharge with bad odour

Awareness of penile and vaginal hygiene are of utmost importance as it plays a major role to keep such infections away. Cleaning with luke warm water in shower is also helpful.

Easy ways to avoid yeast infections are :

  1. Thoroughly clean your pubic areas in shower

  2. Properly drying the areas after shower

  3. Wearing cotton cloths as these are more breathable compared to lenin clothing.

  4. Wearing loose outfits.

  5. Use for talcum powder can also help control sweating

And last but not the least it's highly important to :

1. Stay hydrated as this helps push out unwanted bacteria from our system.

2. Avoid eating acidic foods (when suffering from UTI/ Yeast infection)

3. Avoid consumption of Caffeine

4. Avoid consuming acidic or spicy eatables

5. Consumption of yogurt (fermented curd)
